Conservation Projects

Pangolin Rescue Centre, Uganda

The Pangolin Rescue Centre is a community-based organization implementing wildlife and nature conservation projects around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. Founded in 2011 by Arineitwe Moses, the centre focuses on raising awareness of the need to protect wildlife while providing alternative income streams to poaching.

Under the auspices of the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), Moses and his team have been rescuing pangolins and other wildlife for nearly seven years. Their most recent success involved the release of over 170 rescued and rehabilitated pangolins back into the forest.

XA Gorilla Safaris supports the Pangolin Conservation Centre through guest visits, participation in release activities and donations to fund their projects.

Women in Gorilla Conservation

Women in Gorilla Conservation was established in 2022 to provide local women with a means of supporting their families and community. This has also helped to reduce the dependency on poaching, begging and the pressure on Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Today, the organisation facilitates over 50 members in creating locally sourced and designed basket-ware, jewellery, bags and fashion items. Women in Gorilla Conservation has a small shop in the Nyamishamba area of Kanungu District, where visitors are welcome to purchase these unique handmade products. Each purchase supports local artisans and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Uganda. We encourage you to visit their shop the next time you are tracking the Habinyanja, Binyindo, or Munyambi gorilla families

XA Gorilla Safaris supports Women in Gorilla Conservation through up-skill projects, donations and mentorships.
